PEAK PERFORMANCE STRATEGIST DAVID ASARNOW
DRAWS ON YEARS OF PERSONAL STRUGGLES AND
ENTEPRENEURIAL SUCCESS TO HELP THOUSANDS
OF PEOPLE MAKE PERSONAL AND BUSINESS BREAKTHROUGHS
By Jonathan Widran
In 2007, Franchise Update Magazine wrote a fascinating article on the success that David Asarnow had achieved over the years in two exciting entrepreneurial ventures—the first a manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging, then as founder and CEO of a “Top Ranked” national franchise company.
Driven by his “big hairy audacious goals”—a phrase from the book Built To Last by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras that inspired him—Asarnow amassed the kind of financial stats that now inspire thousands of budding entrepreneurs, and successful business people learning how to get to the next level in their careers, when they attend his seminars (or engage in one on one consultations) across the country.
In his 20’s, the Flanders, New Jersey native—who now lives in the Atlanta area– spearheaded the fastest growing division of the 50 year old company, generating $45 million of the company’s $160 million in annual sales. In 2004, $8.8 million of the company’s $9 million in gross sales increase, came from his division. Later, as the founder and CEO of Clix, he grew the company from a startup to a 2010 Entrepreneur Magazine Top 15 New & Emerging Franchise opportunity. Clix is listed in Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 listing of the top franchise companies worldwide.
In late 2009, Asarnow, intent on reaching for more personal goals, resigned from Clix to focus full time on his long-building career as a Peak Performance Trainer. As a speaker, trainer and consultant, he draws from his many years of business and personal experience to help people and companies perform at the highest level of their game through sound financial business practices and subliminal leadership. Working with athletes, politicians, entertainers and business people, his trademark is helping to bring fantastic real world results, deep emotional understanding and full enjoyment of life, both personal and spiritual.
“After years of building these different companies, my mission now is to share the wealth of my knowledge and experiences to change the world one person at a time,” says Asarnow. “I deliver high impact, lasting, positive change—in fact, I guarantee it! It’s about helping people make personal and professional breakthroughs… eliminating the mental and emotional blocks that may have held them back in the past.  I’ve been doing this kind of work for years, integrating it into my other business endeavors. Today, I am doing the same kind of peak performance work I always have, just shifting to a much broader spectrum of people. When I stepped down as CEO of Clix, I put myself through the same process my current students go through—creating a long-term vision, creating a plan and focusing on my desired outcome.
“I love what I do!  Today, I get to live my dream, being a conduit for others to achieve the life of their dreams,” he adds. “I help people uncover their, purpose, and vision while focusing on their passion. Once your actions are aligned with your passion, we develop steps that help people live a much wealthier, more rewarding life. I love that I get to live my passion and share what I have learned.
What separates me from other so called motivational speakers is that I have fully lived everything that I share with people. I have had my own trainers, mentors and coaches that I studied and learned from over the years.  I integrated what I gained into my real world success and utilized the information to start multiple companies in new industries I previously had no experience in. My seminars and one on one consulting are about the application of that practical experience. What I learned over the last 25 years has enabled me to catapult to the next level in my career and in my life several times, and this is what I’m sharing with my clients now.”
Asarnow sees himself as a Peak Performance Strategist dedicated to helping people develop overall strategies in their life and business. He believes that the time we spend on building a long-term strategy along with implementing key tactics will create their ultimate success. Drawing upon his years of studying Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and guided visualization techniques—he is certified by the American Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and the American Board of Hypnotherapy—Asarnow teaches people about the significance of body language, communication and rapport building skills. He teaches his clients how to align their passions, beliefs and values in order to create more success and happiness in their lives and the lives of others. “Once you master the skill of mastering yourself,” he says, “you can implement that burning desire you have into your goal of being an entrepreneur (if that is your goal).”
Teaching people how to, in the modern technological parlance, “increase their band width,” he creates three basic bullet points out of his essential approach of helping people identify what is and isn’t working in their lives and careers. The first is shifting their state of mind and being and the actions they normally would take. Number two is teaching people to look at themselves and their past from multiple vantage points, because their previous way of thinking and doing may not put them on the ultimate path to success they desire. And finally: creating leverage to enact this change through new appealing options that have been or can be created or pursued. “They must really want to make changes for anything to work,” he says. “We teach that the desire to make the change must outweigh their attachment to their previous path.  In the case of enacting change, we show people how they can turn up their pleasure to the new desired action by three to one, creating real leverage for their change.”  Working with an alliance of other successful business people seeking to impart similar real life wisdom, Asarnow is currently launching a workshop called The Ultimate Challenge. Through hands on accelerated learning techniques, he and his team will teach students advanced communications and language patterns. They cover key motivational strategies and instruct how to break through all limiting barriers to success, eliminating internal blocks and confronting and overcoming those self-limiting beliefs that hold people back. “It’s those small differences in communication that make the biggest difference in real world applications,” he says. “It’s about learning to change those little key components.”
Another of Asarnow’s programs, Cash Flow Now, draws on Asarnow’s sideline as a successful real estate investor. He teaches easy to execute strategies that put cash in people’s pocket today, using real estate as vehicle – with approaches that can also apply to any business. Starting with the revolutionary notion that they don’t need a lot of cash or great credit to start generating income, he gives his students the tools they need to be successful in both business and real estate while also providing the mindset to achieve that success. Cash Flow Now helps real estate investors, entrepreneurs and small business professionals develop techniques and strategies to generate real wealth and profits quickly, starting many times with very little.
“No matter where one is in their life, it’s all a matter of perspective,” says Asarnow. “Anyone can design their future. There are always multiple routes and strategies to make your dream a real possibility. A common denominator in all my students is that they want something more in their life and after working with me or my team, they know that deserve it and can now have it. All they need is a coach, guide or mentor that teach them strategies to get there and an accountability partner to keep them on track.
In leading The Ultimate Challenge, Asarnow draws on his insecure teenage years and his first years out of school, when he was a dishwasher, waiter and “bumming around as a free-lance photographer” to demonstrate his own transformation into becoming a successful entrepreneur. Living through his parents’ divorce in his teens led to a period of doubt and little self-confidence. An encounter in a bookstore with a tape series on increasing self-confidence via hypnosis and NLP was life changing, and within weeks of listening, he noticed dramatic changes in his attitude. He ran track in high school, and using guided visualizations, he learned how to rehearse races in his mind—which led to shaving seconds off his time.
“NLP and hypnosis were tools I used to reframe these past experiences and put them in perspective so that I could achieve a better outcome and results,” Asarnow says. “Most people walk through life in a trance, so putting people into a trance state via hypnosis simply means setting aside the filtering mechanism also known as the conscious mind. Everyone has access to their unconscious mind. It is the part of our minds, that enables us to breath and communicate at deeper levels. I started learning about all this in my late teens but it wasn’t until I decided to apply everything I learned that I could focus on what I really wanted to achieve. Once I began to look at things from a different perspective, I started to experience different results. All of these breakthroughs manifested themselves into my becoming an entrepreneur. I chose this path, liked it and was successful at it.  It’s not rocket science; I know that anyone can do the same thing I did. The skills I teach today are the same ones I learned on my way from being a dishwasher to CEO of two multi-million dollar companies.”
When he’s not leading seminars and inspiring and guiding clients via one on one consultations, Asarnow is leading in a different way—coaching youth football and youth wrestling teams that include his 10 year old son, Josh. He also used to coach his daughter, Maddie (now 13) in T-ball and soccer. He sees a lot of similarities between coaching kids and adults, but likes the fact that children don’t come into situations with preconceived operating ideas created by the emotional baggage of the past.
“With kids, it’s all about when you do a and b, you’ll have result c.  It is amazing how clearly children see things,” he says. “The light bulb goes on with minimal resistance. Using some of the same techniques I teach in my seminars, I have been able to help kids with great desire and passion to extraordinary results, even against teams or a wrestler with much more talent. If they are willing to follow the steps or system we teach, they will be successful. Kids are also a lot of fun to work with. I love the way children share the love back and the excitement they exude when they do well.
“Along those lines, From the time I started to realize that I could make changes in my life, even as far back as high school, I’ve wanted to contribute towards other people achieving their dreams” Asarnow adds. “It is very rewarding to see changes in people I have worked with. Today I am simply doing what I love, the culmination of my life’s work in both my personal and business world. After all these years, I still love and get a charge through being a conduit and catalyst to people getting the results they want and deserve.”
